During a behind-closed-doors meeting with Square Enix and Final Fantasy VII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase, the presentation was briefly opened up to questions. Obviously the question on everyone's mind was how exactly the game would be split up. While Kitase was cagey and not entirely ready to discuss that yet, his answers were telling, and later clarified by Square Enix PR.
When asked directly how many games there would be, Kitase stated that they are not quite sure yet. "We can't say for sure because we do not know ourselves," Kitase replied. We then asked if they expect development...

While they weren't willing to dive too deep into the split, Kitase explained that they are doing it this...

Square Enix says they don't know how many episodes the Final Fantasy VII Remake will be

3 monthes ago - By Destructoid

So Square Enix is still shying away from using the terms "episodic," or "chapters" when it comes to the Final Fantasy VII Remake .
This is what we know so far: Midgar will be the focus of the March 3, 2020 release , which will be an expanded take on the first portion of the JRPG classic. It's gone from a four to five hour portion of the game to a "full game in its own right." That's absolutely what we're getting in early 2020, and that chapter will probably end right as we exit the industrial city. But what about after that? Well, prepare to wait.
